Day 1 – 28th October

Title: Nurture your suppliers

How companies work with their suppliers to improve sustainability and impact?

All companies have enjoyed the benefits of outsourcing including cost savings and specialization. Such benefits could be further amplified by continuous outsourcing, started from local to global, until reaching the lowest cost manufacturer who might employed forced labour.

A local supply chain has become a complex global supply network. Raw materials, components and final products were then produced, consuming over 100 billion ton of resources a year, and being shipped and transported, generating 16% of GHGs, around the world.

How could companies avoid and reduce such impacts after their outsourcing to their supply network?

Felix Lam, Head of Sustainability, Green Council (Moderator)

Matt Friedman, the CEO of Mekong Club
