Rethinking Gender Equality and ESG

Day 1 - 5th Oct | 16:55 - 17:35

Location: Sustainable Communities Theatre

People & Purpose

Overview

Leaders have an unprecedented opportunity to build more resilient and gender-equal economies by investing in inclusive workplaces. We will explore how pioneers are making this happen, what expectations businesses face from stakeholders and the future of gender equality in companies here in Hong Kong and across Asia Pacific.

Learnings

  • Taking stock of workplace gender equality. Where are we? What are the challenges?
  • The big question: What role can companies play in developing more equitable care systems?
  • Capturing opportunity: How can we advance women’s rise to leadership positions?
  • Building resilience: How do we apply a gender lens to re-skilling and redeployment?
  • Looking ahead: Embedding gender parity into the future of work.

Post Event Actions

  • To correctly measure gender wage gaps, companies need to disentangle productivity differentials from outright gender discrimination.
  • To become assertive about gender diversity, companies need to treat it as an integral part of their business strategies.
  • Create awareness around unconscious bias. To focus on improving companies’ cultures to increase inclusion and enhance employee experience and engagement.
