Rethinking Women in The Workplace

Day 1 - 5th Oct | 16:05 - 16:45

Location: Sustainable Communities Theatre

People & Purpose

Overview

With the start of the pandemic, progress for women in work is spiralling backwards. Working mothers have been forced to reduce their hours or quit their jobs as they balance their work and family responsibilities. The pandemic is a wake-up call for companies to put gender inclusion at the forefront of the corporate agenda. By helping women stay in the workforce, companies will not only benefit from a more robust talent pipeline but also better reflect the diversity of the communities they serve.

Learnings

  • Existing and new challenges faced by women in the workplace, with a focus on the impact of caregiving especially during the pandemic
  • Importance of allyship for advancing gender inclusion
  • The way forward for organisations to support women in the future of work

Post Event Actions

  • Reflect on current practices in your organisation to identify how you might better support women and caregivers
  • Become an ally to help move the needle on gender inclusion through everyday actions
  • Build a more empathetic and flexible environment where you support women in adapting to new ways of working
