The Plant-Based Revolution of Our Times

Day 1 - 5th Oct | 12:00 - 12:45

Location: Sustainable Partnership Theatre

Food & Nature

Overview

According to a report by EY released earlier in April 2021, “The alternative proteins will promise substantial disruption to the conventional animal meat market” with sufficient drive from factors like technology advancement, price parity and consumer demand. Hong Kong is no doubt a microcosm of the plant-based ecosystem which is blooming globally. How people embrace plant-based foods in their daily lives, and how various brands promote the green diet, have become the once-in-lifetime case studies of this era.

Learnings

  • The growth of plant-based market globally and how this is observed in Hong Kong – growth of flexitarians and, correspondingly, brands and solutions in the market
  • How do F&B players receive the message of plant-based demands and how they have been reacting (in order to capture them)
  • What are the factors that determine the growth, e.g. environment, cultural shift, etc.
  • What are the factors that affect the penetration, e.g. affordability, advertisement, localisation of products, accessibility, etc.
  • What do you see to be the NEXT trend?

Post Event Actions

  • Assess your organisation’s first response to the plant-based trend – this could be from the R&D perspective or F&B perspective
  • Assess if you could disclose any metrics / quantified data to explain how you capture this market
  • Offer Hong Kong specific insight, and Asia-Pacific specific insight if applicable
