The Power of Nature: Unlocking the Potential of Nature-Based Solutions to Tackle Climate Change (Panel)

Day 1 - 5th Oct | 15:45 - 16:30

Location: Sustainable Transformation Theatre (Keynote)

Decarbonisation

Overview

Companies are pledging to invest in nature-based solutions that protect and restore nature while stimulating green growth. Hear from our panelists how their industries are tackling this challenge.

Learnings

  • The rapidly evolving carbon marketplaces and the use of carbon offsets have the potential, in combination with other strategies, to meaningfully mitigate the impact of greenhouse gas emissions, as well as provide valuable conservation co-benefits for people and nature.
  • Impact-focused tools such as conservation financial strategies and green bonds can be efficient and attractive solutions for investors and the private sector.
  • Strategic partnerships across sectors, regulations and critical research are also needed to attract companies and drive environmental conservation.

Post Event Actions

  • The change we require is unprecedented in scale, and it needs to accelerate quickly.
  • Hong Kong has so much potential as a global financial hub and centre of innovation. We need all sectors to support business models, financial products, new technologies and innovation to drive change towards a sustainable future.
  • From learning about real-world examples from our panelists, think about how you can steer your company to contribute towards a low-carbon future while still stimulating economic growth.
