Overview

The HKSAR Government has introduced the Smart City Blueprint with an aim of enhancing and expanding the existing city management measures and services. One of the areas emphasized in the blueprint is Smart Environment, which calls for the use of commercially available technological application to create a low carbon and more sustainable environment for the people. In this session, the speakers will showcase and discuss on the newest smart city solution and advanced data analytics platform to cope with the Smart City Blueprint and to assist building owners to decarbonize their property portfolios.

Dr. Calvin Kam FAIA, PhD, PE, LEED AP, CCBM is the Founder/CEO of Strategic Building Innovation & bimSCORE.

A licensed architect as well as an engineer in the USA, Calvin is an Adjunct Professor at Stanford University’s Center for Integrated Facility Engineering (CIFE), where he specializes in strategic innovation such as Management Scorecards, Building Information Modeling, Virtual Design and Construction (VDC), and Digital Twins.  Calvin has advised public and private owners globally on VDC, Strategic Innovation and Digital Twins, and was an appointed international expert for APEC, China, Singapore and United Kingdom.

Tim is a practicing town planner and environmental surveyor with extensive experience in planning, engineering and managing smart city and digital infrastructures. Tim spearheaded the development of numerous smart environment tools and infrastructures to enhance the efficiency, robustness and data integrity of ESG metrics within the building industry, including the BEAM Plus Portfolio Assessment, iBEAM Assessment Automation System and the iBEAM Unison BIM to BEAM Plus data integration platforms.

My Sustainability Goals for 2022:

  • Adoption of data analytics to enhance building performances.
  • Recognize the power of advanced data analytics in buildings and how it helps with fulfilling the SDG.
  • Introduce more policy initiatives to incentivize the use of data to decarbonize our buildings.

Garrick is currently the Project Director – M&E in Sun Hung Kai Properties Ltd. (SHKP), supervising office, hotel, retail, service apartment, residential and data centre projects, both in HK and in China.

He is one of the nominated Directors in BEAM Society Limited. He is also currently one of the Panel Advisor for EMSD Best Practice for Operation & Maintenance.

Garrick is very supportive to innovations in project planning and construction delivery. Most SHK new projects are now using BIM in design and construction stages. He proactively supports the deployment of DfMA and MiMEP.

Garrick is also actively involved in deployment of new technologies for Smart, Energy Efficient and Healthy Environment. They include application Internet of Things (loT), Artificial Intelligence (Al) and advance Indoor Air Quality technologies.

My Sustainability Goals for 2022:

Use digital technologies to help our construction and projects to be safer, greener and smarter. Less wastage and less energy consumption.

Sr Paul Tsui is currently the Chief Executive Officer of Esri China (Hong Kong) while Esri is the world leader of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and mapping software. Sr Tsui is serving as the Chairman of Land Surveying Division of the Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors (HKIS).

My Sustainability Goals for 2022:

GIS and location intelligence are being adopted for achieving United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals whether it is at the government, or organisational level.
