E-Mobility: Harnessing Policy and Technology on Our Low-Carbon Journey

Day 1 - 5th Oct | 16:05 - 16:55

Location: Sustainable Partnerships Theatre

Cities & Mobility

Overview

As electrification of transportation systems progresses globally, there is a need for us to prepare on all fronts to meet a new era of rapid and widespread adoption of EVs, in line with the Hong Kong government’s target to attain zero vehicular emissions before 2050. And as stakeholders continue to keep pace with new technological and infrastructural opportunities and adapt to challenges, regulatory support and synergy between government, industry and other relevant stakeholders will be key.

Learnings

  • What levels of policy and regulatory support will be needed for businesses to achieve a rapid transition to zero vehicular emissions? How can we harness the “Roadmap on Popularisation of Electric Vehicles” to drive greater public-private collaboration?
  • What are some current technological and infrastructural barriers, and what opportunities exist to overcome them?
  • To achieve a quantified modal shift to EV adoption, what best-in-class initiatives can Hong Kong draw from other leading cities?

Post Event Actions

  • Rethink public-private collaboration to enhance regulatory and policy support for the popularisation of EVs and our transition towards zero vehicular emissions.
  • Gain insights on proven and developing innovations in the fast-emerging EV space.
  • Consider opportunities for investing in the modal shift towards widespread EV adoption.
