Circularity and Resource Management: Innovations and Collaborations for Effective Material Recovery

Day 2 - 6th Oct | 14:50 - 15:40

Location: Sustainable Resources Theatre

Circular Economy

Overview

Rethinking waste in the context of resource use and management incentivises all stakeholders to engage with the subject with greater positivity and creativity well before resources are used; thereby facilitating our transition to a circular economy. Within a circular economy framework, products and materials that might have held no value using a linear framework are reintroduced back into a productive value chain, for the betterment of the environment, economy and community health.

Learnings

  • What role do waste and resource management play in transitioning the economy towards a more circular model? What barriers in Hong Kong exist, and how can we overcome them?
  • How can smart technology be deployed to better understand resource use and promote recovery and recycling?
  • How can businesses best work with the government and individuals to develop processes and markets for sustainable resource recovery and recycling?

Post Event Actions

  • Consider the sustainability challenges and opportunities of the manifold waste and resource management landscape.
  • Rethink how you can engage and empower teams and external stakeholders to evaluate resource management processes and facilitate new circularity initiatives.
