The Green Earth
Executive Director
Rico Wong is a passionate environmental educator and sustainability advocate who believes that collective action is key to addressing the climate crisis. With twenty-five years of experience in environmental education, Rico has empowered communities through youth green leadership training, school-based sustainability programs, community recycling initiatives, and corporate carbon reduction programs.
Driven by a mission to inspire awareness, shift attitudes, and catalyze action, Rico has also been promoting sustainable consumption by eco-labelling and its potential pathways for Hong Kong’s sustainable future.
Rico also founded a food surplus sharing centre in a Tsuen Wan public housing estate, rescuing unsold produce from local wet markets to support underprivileged families. Recently, he has been focusing on sustainable policy research and enhancement, like the producer responsibility scheme and polluter pays principle.
As a certified arborist and carbon auditor, Rico continues to champion tree conservation and low-carbon operation, reinforcing his belief that sustainability begins with education, community engagement, and a deep respect for nature.
