Digital Twins for the Built Environment

Day 1 : 12:00 – 13:15

Digital Twins are the key to decarbonizing the built environment. Responding and behaving like its real-world counterpart to provide detailed insights across a range of building performance metrics and empowering informed decisions on how to reduce energy, lower costs and work towards net-zero goals. In this session we will hear from experts in the industry on the topic where they will share knowledge on the subject as well as showcase work/projects done in the field.

Learnings

  • How accurate are digital twins?
  • What are the benefits of digital twins?
  • What is the typical ROI for digital twins?
  • How can one mitigate risks for a net zero roadmap or decarbonization plan by using digital twins?

Post-Event Actions

  • Engage with speakers for further information on digital twins
  • Sign-up for training on digital twin technology
  • Take up trials on technology for developing digital twins
  • Connect with speakers for consulting opportunities

Speakers

Peter Chan

AtkinsRéalis

Senior Technical Director, Sustainable Building Design

Mr Chan is a qualified LEED AP, BEAM Pro and building specialist consultant with over 30 years of experience in leading and project managing numerous sustainability assignments related to the built environment. These include : undertaking energy audits and leading Retro-commissioning (RCx) assignments and formulating energy saving opportunities for over 50 government premises; formulating sustainable building design options for over 60 developments to achieve the superior BEAM/LEED Platinum rating; and providing “green” building design and management advice for over 100 BEAM assessed properties.

My Sustainability Goals for 2024:

Tim Lo

BEAM Society Limited

Head of Business & System Development

Tim is a practicing town planner, surveyor and project director with extensive experience in planning, engineering and managing smart city and digital infrastructures to drive social and environmental goals. As the Head of Business & System Development at BEAM Society Limited, a green building assessment authority based in Hong Kong, Tim spearheaded the development of iBEAM Assessment Automation System and the iBEAM Unison plugin, aiming to harmonize the environmental and social sustainability data in building information modeling and providing a one-stop digital solution for green building professionals to analyze the green performances of their properties in a digital environment. Additionally, Tim has directed the development of BEAM Plus portfolio assessment scheme. The scheme enables asset managers to better evaluate the green management and energy usage of their existing building portfolios. By understanding the management merits and energy usage, asset managers could introduce green measures to improve the environmental and social performances of their existing buildings.

My Sustainability Goals for 2024:

To drive up the implementation of digital twins in green building assessments and ESG compliance.
