Step into a Greener Future with the Long Valley Nature Park! The park officially opened in November 2024, marking a milestone in AECOM’s dedication to urban-rural integration through nature-based solutions and other resilient designs. Nestled between Fanling and Kwu Tung in the Northern Metropolis of Hong Kong, this park exemplifies AECOM’s Sustainable Legacies strategy by enhancing ecosystem services through creative design and sustainable practices.
Spanning 37 hectares, the park has transformed existing farmlands into a thriving ecological haven, enriching the biodiversity of this unique freshwater wetland. Not only does it enhance the natural environment, but it also preserves the traditional rural landscape, serves as a beacon for cultural heritage conservation and eco-education in Hong Kong and sets a notable example for sustainable progress and environmental stewardship. At the heart of the Long Valley Nature Park are AECOM’s innovative nature-based solutions (NbS) that demonstrate how urban development can harmonize with nature, promote urban-rural integration and provide vital green spaces for community recreation and education.
The opening of Long Valley Nature Park is just one example of AECOM’s commitment to excellence in transforming the Northern Metropolis into a green and quality living space that promotes urban-rural integration.
Looking ahead, AECOM is excited to share that more innovative initiatives are on the horizon, including Sam Po Shue Wetland Conservation Park, a park designed to ensure no-net-loss of the ecological function of the wetlands; Yuen Long Effluent Polishing Plant, an energy neutral wastewater treatment facility; and the San Tin Technopole, designed as a hub for clustered innovation and technology development.
