Yoga therapy is becoming a vital tool for promoting sustainable wellbeing, particularly for an ageing population and underserved communities. YAMA Foundation plays a key role by using yoga and art therapy to improve physical and mental health, build resilience, and foster social connection. Its initiatives align with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) #3 (Good Health and Well-being) and #10 (Reduced Inequalities).
YAMA Foundation empowers vulnerable communities with tools to manage stress, improve mobility, and cultivate a sense of belonging. Beyond offering programmes, the foundation focuses on creating a cycle of empowerment by providing specialised training. This includes educating corporate teams, training more instructors, and equipping some beneficiaries to lead sessions themselves, fostering long-term positive impact.

A powerful example is Mui, one of YAMA’s Yoga Ambassadors, who has Ichthyosis. After completing her yoga training with YAMA, Mui became passionate about making yoga accessible to all. In June 2024, she attended the Foundation for Ichthyosis & Related Skin Types (FIRST) National Conference in New Mexico, USA, where she led her first yoga class for individuals with Ichthyosis. This milestone highlighted the transformative impact of YAMA’s work.

YAMA Foundation demonstrates the importance of sustainable wellbeing practices in creating a healthier and more equitable world. By empowering individuals and communities, it continues to inspire positive and lasting change.
