With Hong Kong’s Single-Use Plastic Ban now in effect, The Sustainable Restaurant Association’s team of sustainability experts has created the Hong Kong Plastics Guide to support a smooth transition for Hong Kong’s F&B sector as they embrace a future without single-use plastics.
The ban on single-use plastic items came into effect on April 22nd – Earth Day – marking a significant step forward for Hong Kong towards a more environmentally-conscious future.
While the short timeframe given for businesses to comply has been challenging, The SRA seeks to reassure owners and operators that the long-term benefits will outweigh the inconvenience – embracing reuse systems and switching to plastic-free options often results in reduced costs.
This Guide is available for download free of charge, and includes both English and Traditional Chinese translations.
THE HONG KONG PLASTICS GUIDE:
- explains exactly what is covered by the Plastics Ban (and the penalties that apply),
- compares Hong Kong’s ban to similar legislation implemented in other regions,
- offers advice for how to make the transition work for you and your team,
- includes practical guides on how to reduce and replace single-use items, and
- outlines proper disposal methods for a range of materials.
