The Climate Governance Initiative is a global platform, and The Climate Governance Initiative Hong Kong Chapter (“CGI HK”) is committed to reaching out to board directors with the objectives of advancing knowledge, motivating action and propagating board practice in climate governance.

We intend to have the session titled “The need for Climate Governance – Empowering board level executives to make a difference”.

– Developments in the climate related regulations, such as CSRD and ISSB
– The guidance and requirements set by Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing (HKEX)
– Application of Climate Governance principles, and its adoption globally
– The impact of climate matters on a business
– The responsibilities of board level executives, and actions taken by companies to make senior executives more accountable

Post-Event Actions

Invite their board level executives to join the Climate Governance Initiative Hong Kong Chapter, so that board level executives can:

Mohit is the lead partner for sustainability services in Hong Kong and brings with him over 20 years of professional experience. He has led numerous engagements across different industries to help organisations develop strategic risk capabilities, sustainability and ESG data management strategies, climate and ESG risk assessments and build organisation capabilities in supply chain & crisis management.

As an expert in sustainability, Mohit has been invited to lead policy shaping initiatives in the areas of climate and sustainability in the Asia Pacific region.

Mohit is a member of the Steering Committee of the Climate Governance Initiative (CGI) chapter in Hong Kong, and represented Deloitte Singapore in the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants (ISCA) Sustainability Committee, driving the awareness and capability building at all levels with the focus on Boards and executive leadership.

Christine Lau

Christine Lau joined HKEX in 2016. She has been working in the Policy and Secretariat Services of the Listing Division, and has been involved in HKEX’s listing policy initiatives in relation to corporate governance and environmental, social and governance matters in recent years. Prior to joining HKEX, Ms. Lau was a senior associate practicing corporate and securities law in Hong Kong with a leading international law firm. Ms. Lau graduated from the University of Hong Kong with a bachelor’s degree in Laws, and is a qualified lawyer in Hong Kong.

My Sustainability Goals for 2024:

– Use mass public transport/car pooling
– Shop in physical stores instead of online where possible to reduce packaging
– Delete emails to reduce storage space taken up on servers, so that less power is needed to power the server

Shawn Li

WTW Hong Kong

Director, Executive Compensation & Board Advisory

Shawn is a Director at WTW based in Hong Kong working in the Work & Rewards business. He brings nearly two decades of consulting experiences in various rewards-related areas, especially in executive compensation, focusing on Asia. Before joining WTW, Shawn has been a Principal consultant at another global management consulting firm and worked as an in-house consultant across Asia for one of the world largest insurance companies.

Shawn is a Certified Compensation Professional and a regular speaker at Financial Times Non-Executive Director Programme. He holds a Bachelor degree in Economics from the Renmin University of China and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from the University of Oxford.

Each year help at least 3 new companies to include ESG-related measures in their incentive plans.

David Simmonds

CLP Holdings Limited

Chief Strategy, Sustainability and Governance Officer

Mr Simmonds is responsible for CLP Group strategic planning and the strategy agenda as well as driving the Group’s sustainability agenda and ensuring that it is embedded into the business.

He is also responsible for managing the investments and ventures that help support CLP’s growth strategy, the Group’s investments in Taiwan Region and Thailand and the Group’s property development activities.

In addition, Mr Simmonds is the Group General Counsel of CLP Holdings, responsible for the provision of legal, corporate secretarial and insurance services across the Group.

Mr Simmonds is a Director of various subsidiary companies** and affiliated companies+ of the CLP Group.
