Chief Designer / General Manager – Design Department
Ray Zee has been practicing in architectural design internationally for over 30 years, and is specialized in office, residential, hotel, commercial and civic projects. He gained solid and extensive experience from local developers e.g. Nan Fung Development Limited and Cheung Kong (Holdings) Limited Since 2009, Ray has been leading Nan Fung’s Design Department as Chief Designer on projects spanning from Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou and other areas across China to Singapore, London, and New York. In addition, his background has also included extended professional periods in the offices of IM Pei and Sir Norman Foster.
Ray was the lead designer of the innovative mixed-use project, The Mills in Tsuen Wan. This project won the HKIA Medal of the Year of Hong Kong and Special Architectural Award for Heritage and Adaptive Re-use in the 2018-2019 HKIA Award, as well as the UNESCO Asia Pacific Award for Cultural Heritage Conservation for 2019
He holds a Bachelor Degree of Arts in Architecture from the University of California, Berkeley. Ray was active in the academia. He served as Adjunct Associate Professor in 2020 – 2021 and Assistant Professor in 2000 – 2003 in the Department of Architecture at the University of Hong Kong.
My Sustainability Goals for 2021:
To continue to create quality architecture with sustainability in mind through research and education. Hong Kong’s future lies in improving and developing within the existing collection of buildings we call home.
