DBS Foundation
The DBS Foundation is committed to uplifting lives and livelihoods by igniting change in businesses and communities since 2014.
The Business for Impact chapter championing social entrepreneurship in Asia, over HKD 75 million in grant funding has been disbursed to support high-potential social enterprises and SMEs in developing and growing their businesses since 2014. The Community Impact chapter aims to equip the underserved with digital and financial literacy skills to face the future with confidence, and enable communities to be more food secure and resilient. Two inaugural programmes to support people experiencing homelessness and underserved youth were launched in 2022.
Towards Zero Food Waste
DBS embarked on a journey Towards Zero Food Waste in 2020, we seek to create sustainable impact by spurring change in mindsets and behaviours through a three-pronged approach:
- Advocate: Building awareness of the issue and inspiring action to reduce food loss and waste
- Activate: Rallying employees and working towards reducing food waste in our own operations
- Ally: Partnering with like-minded organisations to scale impact and reduce food waste
Collectively with all the Zero Food Waste initiatives we launched in 2022, we had created 92,800 KG of food impact through food waste avoided, food waste upcycling and redistribution of surplus food in Hong Kong.
