foodpanda Hong Kong, in partnership with WWF-HK and supported by ECF, proudly introduces “ECF: Choose to Reuse”, Hong Kong’s first reusable packaging programme. Launched in October 2022, this innovative initiative provides an alternative and sustainable solution, allowing our restaurant partners and customers to actively contribute to reducing plastic waste at its source. Together with our dedicated partners, including restaurants, corporate supporters, property developers, and other operation units such as Gate Group Solutions, our esteemed cleaning partner, we have successfully engaged over 10,000 customers with reusable packaging options for their delivery or takeaway orders on foodpanda.
As the program enters into Phase 2 under ECF’s support, foodpanda HK and WWF have further collaborated with MTR to revolutionize disposable takeaway practices. By leveraging MTR’s convenient public transport network, this strategic collaboration aims to improve program accessibility by introducing additional container collection points such as Hong Kong and Sai Ying Pun MTR Stations. Notably, we have also launched the first-ever reusable container lending machine at Hong Kong Station, enabling consumers to directly borrow non-disposable alternatives, offering a more sustainable and eco-friendly approach to takeaway options with the F&B tenants at the station, as well as other restaurants nearby.
With the active involvement of over 60 partner restaurants, the program is rapidly expanding to include even more vendors to enhance cuisine diversity. Together with our continued effort in growing the collection network, we aim to further enhance the impact of the program and drive a greener business model in food delivery.
