Hong Kong businesses are ready to embark on their sustainability journeys.
In a survey conducted by Business Environment Council, with the support of Schneider Electric Hong Kong, 84% of business leaders consider sustainability to be a core part of their organizations’ strategies.
69% indicated that their organizations’ sustainability efforts are strongly or generally aligned with Hong Kong’s Climate Action Plan 2050.
Yet only 49% reflected that their organizations currently have holistic and systemic sustainability policies in place.
Amongst the key obstacles highlighted by respondents are: changing longstanding business practices and organizational mindsets (62%), striking a balance between realistic and aspirational targets (55%), and access to accurate data and information to guide efforts (41%).
Notably, only 52% of respondents pursued digital solutions to lower their carbon footprints in the past 12 months, and just 21% of respondents consider that they are fully utilizing technology to operate more sustainably.
There clearly remains a large, untapped opportunity for technology to play a role in the sustainability transformation of Hong Kong businesses. How can we best leverage digitization in building a greener and smarter Hong Kong?
