ALBA Integrated Waste Solutions (Hong Kong) Ltd. (ALBA IWS) is proud to have achieved the Final Gold grading of BEAM Plus New Buildings (V1.2) for WEEE · PARK.
BEAM Plus is the Hong Kong’s leading initiative to offer independent assessments of building sustainability performance, with an aim to make buildings more efficient and emit less carbon. Recognised and certified by the Hong Kong Green Building Council, BEAM Plus offers a comprehensive set of performance criteria for a wide range of sustainability issues relating to the planning, design, construction, commissioning, fitting out, management, operation and maintenance of a building.
As Hong Kong’s main E-waste treatment and recycling facility, WEEE · PARK takes site environment, materials used, energy use, water use and indoor environmental quality into consideration. Its green building features include PV panels, solar water heating system, rainwater harvesting system as well as green architectural design to maximise the use of natural lighting and ventilation. In addition, the facility incorporates green walls with hardy native climbing plants, achieving 30% green coverage.
This accreditation is a remarkable achievement for an industrial project of this nature and it reflects ALBA IWS’s commitment and effort in reducing carbon emissions.
