Javier Calvar, MCMI ChMC
Javier is a seasoned strategist and business leader with an international career spanning over three decades. In his current role as Service Line Group Head at Ipsos in Hong Kong, he leads a significant portion of the business, driving growth and profitability while fostering talent.
Javier’s extensive commercial experience, which includes senior leadership positions in London, Shanghai and Hong Kong, is complemented by a deep and long-standing commitment to social responsibility and sustainable development. He firmly believes in being an asset to both his business and his community, a principle that has guided his career.
This commitment is demonstrated through his active involvement in several non-profit organisations. As a member of the Board of Governors at Lancing College in the UK and Wellington College in China, he contributes to the strategic development of these two venerable institutions. For over a decade, he has served as a business advisor for the Stanford Institute for Innovation in Developing Economies (SEED), where he has volunteered his expertise to support entrepreneurs in emerging markets, particularly in Africa.
Javier’s passion for creating inclusive environments led him to become a founding member of the Race, Ethnicity And Cultural Heritage (REACH) group at Ipsos UK, where he helped deploy initiatives to celebrate diversity and promote inclusion. Furthermore, he dedicates his time to mentoring the next generation of leaders as an award-nominated mentor at his alma mater, the University of Westminster.
Javier holds a PhD in Social Policy from Middlesex University and is an alumnus of Stanford Graduate School of Business. As a Chartered Management Consultant, Javier brings a unique blend of rigorous analytical skill, global business acumen, and a dedicated focus on creating lasting, positive impact for businesses and society.
