Allied Sustainability and Environmental Consultants Group Limited (“AEC Group”), as the key knowledge partner of the Hong Kong’s first rules-based ESG Examination – ESG Certified Professional (“ESGCP”) Examination, is honored to have launched the “ESG Certified Professional (ESGCP) Examination Launching Symposium” held on June 6, 2024. The ceremony was graced by the presence of distinguished guests, including the Permanent Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury (Financial Services), Ms. Salina Yan; HKUST Institute for the Environment’s Chief Development Strategist, Dr. Christine Loh; CEO of CHKLC, Mr. Mike Wong; Chairman and Executive Director of AEC Group, Ms. Grace Kwok and CEO and Executive Director of AEC Group and ESG Committee Member of CHKLC, Mr. Dennis Wu , among other distinguished guests who shared their insights on ESG market trends in Hong Kong and the demand for qualified ESG professionals.
The ESGCP is based on publicly available information from HKEX and includes authoritative standards such as the Climate Standards from the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB), the Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), and the Science Based Targets Initiatives.
The ESGCP aims to assess the proficiency and knowledge of ESG practitioners in applying HKEX’s rules and regulations, helping Hong Kong-listed companies establish standards and improve the quality of their ESG professionals. Candidates who pass the exam will be awarded the status of ESG Certified Professional (ESGCP/ESG認證專業人員) by the CHKLC and will become registered members of the Institute of ESG Certified Professionals. To maintain their ESGCP qualification, candidates must complete 10 relevant ESG Continuing Professional Training (ESGCPT) hours per year.
The first batch of the examination was held on July 12, 2024, and the second batch is scheduled for Tuesday, October 15, 2024.
