Driving Change: Innovations in Sustainable Mobility

Yushen Liu joined the company in 2009 and has held various roles to develop BNEF’s business across APAC. In her current role as co-head of BNEF APAC commercial, Ms.Liu manages BNEF commercial teams in Greater China, Japan, and Korea to provide research solutions for clients across multiple asset classes to shape their decarbonization strategy. Ms.Liu also co-leads the overall business operation in the APAC region.

Ms. Liu holds a bachelor’s degree in law from Nankai University and a MSc Degree on Human Resources Management and Organizational Analysis from King’s College London. She also holds an MBA degree at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

My Sustainability Goals for 2026:

• Accelerate global adoption of electric vehicles (EVs)—including two- and three-wheelers, passenger cars, mining equipment, and marine vessels—by implementing interoperable charging standards like CCS and MCS, while cutting CO2 emissions and advancing climate-neutral transportation worldwide.
• Design and Certify standardized, reliable, and user-friendly charging solutions to streamline EV infrastructure, reduce costs, and enhance accessibility for sustainable urban mobility.
• Support climate-neutral cities by scaling EV charging infrastructure, aligning with UN Sustainable Development Goal 11 to create inclusive, safe, and resilient urban environments

Atlas Fung is a seasoned carbon, sustainability and infrastructure consultant with over 15 years’ experience leading multi-disciplinary teams and transformative infrastructure projects across Asia, the UK, and the Middle East. As the regional market sector lead for carbon, sustainability and net zero at AtkinsRéalis, Atlas spearheads decarbonisation consultancy initiatives in Hong Kong and Singapore, advancing solutions from GHG reporting to whole life-cycle carbon assessments and ESG disclosures.

A recognised Carbon Leader within the global AtkinsRéalis network, Atlas was one of just 30 employees worldwide selected for the inaugural Carbon Academy in 2024. His leadership has helped expand the firm’s footprint across AtkinsRealis in Asia, delivering advisory services in transport, urban planning, future mobility, and climate resilience projects in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Philippines.

Whisker is a seasoned professional with over 20 years of experience in the technology industry. Prior to joining Siemens Mobility, he has led digital, AI and machine learning based projects in various industries, including Healthcare, Logistics. Leading the Digital Development Center at Siemens Mobility Hong Kong, he is currently spearheading digital transformation initiatives, particularly through AI and machine learning. He is also a project manager for a number of government and mobility related digital projects aimed at making Hong Kong transportation smarter and more sustainable.

Whisker holds a Master’s Degree in IT Management from Hong Kong Baptist University and a Bachelor’s in Computing and Networking. His career is marked by a commitment to leveraging advanced technology to drive innovation at Siemens Mobility in the transportation industry.

– Accelerate smart and sustainable mobility solutions in Hong Kong

Gene Soo is Head of Ecosystem at MTR Corporation’s Global Innovation Department, where he supports innovation initiatives across Hong Kong and MTR’s international operations. His work focuses on turning ideas into practical pilots, with a growing emphasis on applying AI and automation to support MTR’s people in their everyday work, improve urban mobility, and enhance the commuter experience.

Much of Gene’s recent work centres on driving AI adoption and everyday use at MTR. He builds AI agents and tools for real operational challenges, from smarter staff canteen menus to sharing knowledge across business units. He also champions ShiftChat, a platform that connects and coordinates frontline and shift-based workers. Gene favours working pilots over presentations, testing where AI genuinely adds value before scaling it, and helping colleagues get comfortable using the tools themselves.

Gene is personally committed to environmental sustainability and is an active recycler. He regularly uses MTR’s Carbon Wallet and Hong Kong’s Green@Community network to reduce waste and support circular practices in daily life.

Prior to joining MTR, Gene brought Citymapper to Hong Kong and co-founded StartupsHK, contributing to the city’s growing tech and startup community. He holds a BS and MS in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University and an MBA from Columbia University.

My Sustainability Goals for 2026:

Make sustainability the invisible default
I hope to see smart technology and AI woven so deeply into everyday life that the low-carbon, low-waste option quietly becomes the default in how we move, work, and consume, rather than something people have to actively choose.

Make the greener choice the easier choice
I want people gently nudged toward sustainable habits through good design, digital incentives, and rewards, so recycling, low-carbon travel, and circular consumption feel effortless and even a little rewarding, rather than a chore.

Make sustainability inclusive, not just corporate
I hope to see innovation break down silos and open opportunity across the public, private, and civic sectors, so progress on sustainability is community-driven and inclusive, leaving no one behind.
