Dr. Amanda Chow is a dedicated advocate for gerontology with over 23 years of experience in education, professional training, and eldercare innovation. Her passion for improving the lives of older adults has driven her to educate Social Work, Nursing, and Healthcare students at universities, while also empowering professionals such as property management leaders, residential care home managers, and caregivers through specialized training programs.
Dr. Chow’s commitment to fostering age-friendly communities is exemplified by her role as the Convenor of the Age-Friendly Community initiative and as a Committee Member of the Specialized Committee on Elderly Service (SpE) under the Hong Kong Council of Social Service (HKCSS). Her impactful work includes managing residential care home accreditation schemes and spearheading innovative projects that improve the quality of care for the elderly.
As Deputy Executive Director of the Hong Kong Association of Gerontology, Dr. Chow channels her passion into advancing eldercare services, shaping age-friendly policies, and raising professional standards in the field. Her tireless efforts continue to inspire others and contribute to creating a society where older adults can thrive with dignity and respect.
My Sustainability Goals for 2025:
I hope to see Hong Kong become a society that fully embraces gerontology principles, ensuring older adults and their caregivers can age with dignity, connection, and resilience. To achieve this, my focus is on three key goals:
