Dr. Jim Chu

Dr. Jim Chu is currently the Assistant Director (Fisheries and Marine Conservation) of the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department, HKSAR. In support of the Blueprint for the Sustainable Development of Agriculture and Fisheries released in late 2023, Dr. Chu has been at the forefront of advancing marine conservation and sustainable fisheries development in Hong Kong. His leadership has been instrumental in several key initiatives, including the recent designation of new fish culture zones in Hong Kong for modernisation and industrialisation of mariculture, as well as enhancing marine resources through the implementation of fish restocking and coral restoration programmes. He is also a strong advocate for the development of local leisure fisheries and sustainable fish farming. Dr. Chu is dedicated to introducing innovative ideas and cutting-edge technologies, such as artificial intelligence, into the realms of fisheries and marine conservation.
