Deputy Head of Mission

Tamsin Heath currently serves as the Deputy Head of Mission at the British Consulate-General.

She arrived in Hong Kong in August 2019 as Deputy Consul General. Tamsin joined the Diplomatic Service in 2005 as a diplomatic service economist working on economic issues, and as the economist in the Iraq Policy Unit in 2006-2007.  Her first posting was as 2nd Secretary Economic and Trade Policy in Beijing, working on the UK/China Economic and Financial Dialogue, as well as intellectual property issues.

After Beijing, she worked as First Secretary Economic, Energy & Climate Change at the British Embassy in Riyadh, and then as Head of Yemen policy in London, where she acted briefly as Charg d’Affaires in Sana’a in 2013. Between 2013 and 2015 Tamsin was Private Secretary to the FCO Permanent Under Secretary and Head of the Diplomatic Service.

She moved to Hong Kong from The Hague after three years working for the Dutch Development Bank FMO, as Senior Strategy Advisor and Head of Public Affairs.

Before joining the FCO, Tamsin worked for the Chief Economist of the Royal Bank of Scotland group and at HM Treasury. She studied Economics at the University of Cambridge.

Tamsin is married with two children, Emily and Thomas.
