Mr Ambrose Cheong, BBS pursued a civil engineering career in Hong Kong for 38 years and retired in 2020. He worked for a contractor and the then Mass Transit Railway Corporation before joining the Government in 1983. He was then working in various departments/bureaux. His last position was the Project Manager heading the West Development Office of the Civil Engineering and Development Department. He is currently the Chairperson of the Institution of Civil Engineers, Hong Kong Association.

Hong Kong to be developed into a smart and green city which is sustainable, carbon neutral and climate resilient.

Bon Cheung is an Assistant Manager of Civic Exchange, focusing on green and sustainable finance market development. He has obtained several professional designations, such as the SCR Certificate from the Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP), and Green and Sustainable Finance Professional™ from the Chartered Banker Institute (CBI). Moreover, Bon has engaged and published plenty of impactful academic research on green finance development in GBA. Apart from academic development, He has also been invited to be panellist and guest lecturer for talks and lectures in Master level courses related to green and sustainable finance. With these achievements, he was recognised and nominated as one of the representatives of the HKUST to compete for the Oxford Green Finance Prize 2023.

Daniel Chan is Head of Greater Bay Area at HSBC. He spearheads HSBC’s strategic development in GBA, a key focus of the Bank’s Asia growth strategy. He leads the overall business strategy development and implementation in GBA, across all business lines and functions to capture opportunities brought by GBA’s economic growth and policy enhancement measures. He is an HSBC veteran with over 30 years’ experience, holding senior leadership positions in HK, Singapore, Mainland China in recent 15 years.

Xiaoqian JIANG is the Low Carbon Planning Project Manager, based in WRI China Office. She is one of the core team members of the Greenhouse Gas Protocol City Accounting Project to develop the Global Protocol for Community-Scale Greenhouse Gas Emissions Inventories (GPC). In China, she mainly works on the area of subnational carbon emissions peak and carbon neutrality through projects such as capacity building and policy research. Her focused regions are the GBA and Sichuan province.

Stephen Lai is Senior Vice President and Director of Operations overseeing AECOM’s operations in Hong Kong. He has over 30 years of experience in delivering major multidisciplinary urban development and infrastructure projects for the HKSAR government as client, covering areas of investigation management, design, construction management and contract administration.

Stephen’s diverse portfolio of Hong Kong projects include Central-Wan Chai Bypass and Island Eastern Corridor Link; various new town developments such as New Development Areas in Northern Metropolis, Kai Tak Development, Tseung Kwan O New Town Development; Tseung Kwan O-Lam Tin Tunnel, Tuen Mun-Chek Lap Kok Link and Lai Chi Kok Drainage Tunnel, among many others.

With his vast experience in project delivery and operations, Stephen is also heading the Asia Internal ESG initiative of AECOM and leading the business development in GBA by leveraging our resources, capability and experience development in Hong Kong.

Dr. Xiaoliang Yang joined the Global CCS Institute as China Country Manager in March 2022. In his current role, Xiaoliang leads the Institute’s effort to develop and execute policy, advocacy, & client engagement strategies to build political and financial support for CCUS development in China. Xiaoliang holds a PhD in Environmental Science from State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry and a MPA from Maxwell School of Syracuse University.

Kathy Xitong Gao is a Senior Associate with BNEF based in Hong Kong. She leads the BNEF’s hydrogen coverage in the APAC region with a focus on China. She leads the team’s coverage on hydrogen export, demand, and company activities. She has spoken in lots of international conferences, including the Indonesia Net Zero Summit and the ASEAN Energy Business Forum 2022. Before joining the hydrogen team, she was in the Technology & Innovation team with BNEF covering digital technologies and early-stage climate technologies.

Kathy holds a Master’s degree in Energy Resource and Environment from Johns Hopkins SAIS in Washington DC and a Bachelor in International political economy from Renmin University in Beijing. Before joining BNEF she had project finance experience in a solar development company and a battery startup in the US.

Peter Thompson is a Director and East Asia Energy Business Leader for Arup based in Hong Kong. He has more than 35 years of experience in the management of the design and implementation of major energy and infrastructure works projects across a wide variety of overseas countries. In line with the firm’s strategy to facilitate the development of sustainable future outcomes, he has a focus on works that lead to positive climate impacts, improved resilience and net-zero solutions.

To facilitate and enable the implementation of a hydrogen economy for the city.

Vincent is a specialist in energy transition for businesses and financial institutions. He has been for 2 years with Blunomy, a strategy advisory firm based in Hong Kong. Prior to this, he spent 30 years working in industry, the last 5 of which were spent transforming business portfolios with a low carbon offering. He is passionate about analysing opportunities, changing business models, building coalitions and looking in detail at the challenges to successful decarbonisation. He has strong expertise in the Asian market, advising some major companies on their energy and climate transition.

David Fung brings decades of experience in Product Planning leadership positions, primarily in the global automotive industry. David is currently the General Manager – Product Planning & Distribution of Inchcape Greater China. Through his extensive market knowledge, David is responsible in informing the planning and design of new models, tailoring to the needs of markets in Hong Kong and Macao

My Sustainability Goals for 2023:

HK should consider to align with the Mainland and adopting a more balace approach in the development of alternative energy vehicles, on top of EV e.g hydrogen.

Peipei Gao is AFRY’s China Management Consulting Lead based in Beijing. With 18 years of experience in energy and utilities sectors, she is a recognised expert in cross-border energy sector mergers and acquisitions. At AFRY, Peipei leads a team of China power market experts to advise multinational companies and global investors on renewables sector transactions. With in-depth power market insights, she also actively works with corporates looking to achieve ambitious climate targets, helping businesses chart an actionable path to address wicked sustainability problems against China’s complex and fast-changing policy and market landscape. She most recently worked with a global apparel retailer to identify renewable electricity procurement solutions for 200+ suppliers across China.

Prior to joining AFRY, she was Investment Director at CITIC Construction overseeing the company’s overseas investment, and before that she had held positions at Aramco, EDF, and BP.

Over 12 years of career, Mr. Rory Meng has been committed to the work of safety integrity management in petrochemical, machinery manufacturing, new energy, lithium electric manufacturing, semiconductor and other industries. He has rich experience in risk management system and equipment integrity management consulting, proficient in mechanical safety, process safety, chemical safety, functional safety, explosion-proof safety, electrical safety, product safety and many special technologies, integrated manufacturing system, equipment integrity management system, process safety management system, quality management system, asset integrity management system, engineering project management and many other production management system capabilities.
He has served 50+ leading companies in the related industry, and has participated in or led more than 20 projects of hydrogen energy and hydrogen related projects in general industry.

Ar Prof Ada FUNG, BBS, is President of Hong Kong Alliance of Built Asset & Environment Information Management Associations, and Chair of Hong Kong Chapter of buildingSMART International.

She is Honorary Professor and Distinguished Faculty Fellow of Faculty of Architecture at The University of Hong Kong, amongst other appointments.

An architect by profession, Ada Fung is the Former Deputy Director of Housing (Development & Construction) of the Hong Kong Housing Authority, overseeing all facets of public housing development representing homes for almost half of the Hong Kong population. Retired from the Housing Authority in end 2017, Ada continues her drive on sustainability and quality in the built asset industry.

She is Past President of the Hong Kong Institute of Architects (2013 – 2014), Past Director and Board Secretary of the World Green Building Council (2018-2020), and Past Chair of Committee on BIM of the Construction Industry Council(2017-2023).

Ada Fung’s Sustainability Goals for 2023-2024 follow the buildingSMART’s vision in the full realization of the societal, environmental and economic benefits of open sharable infrastructure and building asset information into commercial and institutional processes worldwide. We aim to facilitate the active use and dissemination of open data standards enabling infrastructure and building asset data and lifecycle processes.

Terence is the Founder and CEO of Varadise Limited. With a strong background in digital transformation, he previously served as the Head of Digital Transformation at a prominent contractor company. Throughout his career, Terence has been at the forefront of innovative development projects, specializing in BIM Analytics, AI analytics, IoT, VR, and business intelligence (BI). His primary focus has been on leveraging technology to drive business transformation and efficiency. A remarkable achievement in his career was becoming a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers (FICE) at the young age of 32, making him one of the world’s youngest ICE fellows. His dedication to the field is evident in his expertise in construction digitalization, particularly in the automation of site monitoring processes.

Terence’s vision is to revolutionize the construction industry by utilizing data-driven approaches to enhance productivity, quality, and safety. He firmly believes in adopting an integrated construction approach, which he calls Construction 2.0, to optimize construction practices and outcomes.

James Thompson is the Head of Digital at Gammon Construction and his focusses include Innovation, Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) and leading the CoE of Building Information Modelling (BIM) in Gammon. James strives to improve the Hong Kong Construction industry and champions the adoption cross industry global best practice and bleeding edge technologies to improve corporate outcomes related to digital transformation and innovative corporate change.

James has more 17 years of global experience working in Hong Kong, UK and Middle East delivering BIM, PLM & GIS for public and private sector clients in construction, manufacturing, & industrial sector projects.

Digital Efficiency: Implement technology and digital tools to streamline construction processes and reduce waste. This will include adopting advanced BIM software, AI for optimization, or predictive analytics tools to anticipate and avoid inefficiencies.

Energy Efficiency: Implement digital technologies during the construction phase to improve the energy efficiency of our projects and can be used during operations and in-use phases.

Claudio Trucco is the Digital Lead for Buildings & Places, Asia, at AECOM. He is an architect and a strategy and innovation professional with over ten years’ experience across Asia’s built environment sector. Having worked in China, Thailand and Hong Kong, Claudio has worked on a wide range of project types within the realm of smart cities and sustainable urban design. His main focus is to integrate digital processes and tools seamlessly into every stage of a project’s lifecycle, resulting in enhanced values for clients and stakeholders. Claudio holds an MBA from the Macquarie University of Sydney and a Master’s Degree in Architecture from the University of Genova.

Colin’s innovative and strategic approach has seen him design and implement cutting-edge solutions that leverage the power of IoT, AI and Data Analytics. His profound understanding of the digital landscape allows him to craft tailored strategies that devise robust applications, streamlining operations, and gain a competitive edge. His personal passion lies in harnessing the power of technology to transform sustainability from a mere aspiration into a measurable and attainable objectives. Colin was graduated from the University of Liverpool, he also holds a Master Degree from the University of York.

Beena is the CEO and Co-Founder of CCU International. CCU International provide next generation carbon capture technology that captures and utilises carbon dioxide from industry emissions.

Beena is a multi-award-winning professional who sits on multiple international boards including the Society for Low Carbon Technologies and Carbon Capture Storage Brazil. Having worked in multiple industries, her experience has taken her to various locations around the world. Industries including oil & gas, renewables, manufacturing, construction, and healthcare.

Beena has proven experience in managing high growth and innovative businesses, developing climate change programmes, and driving net zero strategy for businesses. She is a professional with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.), a Postgraduate in Psychology and is a qualified Carbon management specialist.

Antonio Chan is currently the Deputy Managing Director of REC Engineering Group oversees the entire operation composed of REC Engineering Co. Ltd., REC Engineering Contracting Co. Ltd., REC (China) Co. Ltd., REC M&E Engineering (Shanghai) Co. Ltd., REC Engineering Co. Ltd. (Macao Branch), REC Building Services (Macao) Ltd., REC Green Technologies Co. Tung Wong is currently the Head of Marketing at Signify Hong Kong (formerly known as Philips Lighting). Tung is a seasoned marketing leader specializing in smart home and smart cities technologies and is passionate in finding innovative ways in turning the business to growth trajectory. Tung is dedicated to leading the team to accelerate the deployment of highly energy saving system and solution to support Hong Kong to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050 and pioneer in circular economy in lighting industry to reducing waste to landfill. Tung holds a MSc in Electronic Engineering degree from HKUST.

Geneviève Hilton is the co-author of Fairhaven – A Novel of Climate Optimism (as Jan Lee). She is the co-chair of the Energy & ESG committee of AmCham Hong Kong, and previously spearheaded ESG and corporate citizenship at Lenovo and BASF in Asia. She has been active in sustainability in the region since 1994.

To inspire business leaders and individuals in the region to stay optimistic and take bold action to address climate change.

Grace Cheung is the General Manager of Group Sustainability Department at Cathay Pacific. Since taking up her role in 2017, Grace has turned sustainability from a standalone specialist function to an integrated strategic and operational imperative in the airline group.
During Grace’s tenure, Cathay Pacific has committed for its net zero carbon emissions goal by 2050, supported by its mid-term target for using 10% sustainable aviation fuel(SAF) by 2030. The airline group is a founding member of Hong Kong Sustainable Aviation Fuel Coalition (HKSAFC)in 2024 and has also launched the first major Corporate SAF Programme in Asia in 2022. The airline has also cut more than 50% of its inflight single-use plastics (SUP) in 2023 compared to 2018.
Grace represents the airline in a number of industry working groups devoted to sustainability and environmental issues, including the ones at International Air Transport Association (IATA) and the Oneworld Alliance.

My Sustainability Goals for 2024:

1. HK Government releases a more concrete policy to support SAF deployment in HK without negative impact on the competitiveness of HK’s role of international aviation hub.
2. The awareness of importance of SAF from the public is enhanced.

Mr Simon Ng is Chief Executive Officer of Business Environment Council (BEC). He works closely with BEC Board of Directors in setting and implementing organisation goals and strategies conducive to supporting BEC members and the wider business community in the transition towards net-zero economy and a sustainable Hong Kong.

Mobilise corporates in Hong Kong for accelerated climate action.

Ms. Assyl Ikhsan has joined the Transition Finance team in SCB Singapore as an Executive Director in Jul-2022. Main areas of focus are advisory and creation of financing solutions to support decarbonisation activities of the bank’s clients.
Previously, she was part of the Energy Transition Analysis team at BHP looking at transition solutions and trends in mining sector across the value chain.
Prior to BHP, she has worked at Temasek (Singapore) as FIG investment manager and JPMorgan (London, Hong Kong, Singapore) as FIG advisory and M&A banker.
Assyl holds a BA in Economics and Management from the University of Oxford.

My Sustainability Goals for 2023:

Clear near- and medium-term targets and pathway to decarbonise supported by set of effective policies, mandates, and incentives.

Mr. Philip Siu is the Co-founder and CEO of EcoCeres, Inc. – a world-leading Bio-refinery Platform on sustainable biomass. He obtained his Bachelor and Master of Arts Degrees from Cambridge University in the 80s’ and completed the Harvard Business School’s Advanced Management Program in 2016.

In an illustrious career spanning 36 years prior to founding EcoCeres, Mr. Siu has led and achieved several ground-breaking milestones. At the turn of the new millennium, Mr. Siu led the design, construction and operation of an Aviation Fuel Tank Farm, the largest in scale of its kind in the world, under a 40 Years’ Franchise with the HK Airport Authority.

In 2008, he developed from ground the business platform on new energy, which aims to develop innovative solutions to upgrade low-value feedstock to high-value products. Sustainable biomass is a key choice of feedstock, and from that a new and independent business platform – EcoCeres evolved in 2021, of which Mr. Siu is the founding CEO. EcoCeres has a strategic focus on the conversion of waste-based biomass into a wide spectrum of biofuels and biopolymers, and is now one of the leading suppliers of renewable diesel and sustainable aviation fuel. EcoCeres aspires to becoming a global leader in providing de-carbonization solutions much needed by the world to attain carbon neutrality.

My Sustainability Goals for 2023:

We will continue to increase our production of both SAF and cellulosic ethanol and hope to help Hong Kong become a SAF hub by cooperating with the Hong Kong government and local airlines to advocate for supportive policies and regulations to promote SAF development and adoption.

Irene leads ESG reporting and assurance for KPMG in Hong Kong and advises listed and private companies on sustainability and climate strategy.

Irene has experience across a range of sustainability advisory services including but not limited to sustainability reporting, materiality assessment, stakeholder engagement, corporate sustainability framework, key performance indicators (KPIs) and targets setting (including SBTs), corporate ESG capability maturity assessments, ESG due diligence, sustainability ratings, decarbonisation and data pre-assurance.

Stephen Cheung is the Head of Digital Energy & Smart Solutions of Schneider Electric Hong Kong. He is responsible for the business development in Hong Kong and Macau, overseeing projects such as smart energy management, energy efficiency and electric vehicle charging solutions. With years of experience in the energy management field, Stephen is a proven expert who has played an instrumental role in several large-scale government and commercial projects at Schneider Electric.

Stephen joined Schneider Electric in the year 2002 as Sales Engineer and with his sheer hard work and dedication has come through the ranks. He is widely regarded for his proven analytical and problem-solving skills and his ability to identify talent, build large culturally diverse teams and capitalize on opportunities. Stephen has pursued a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.

Estyn Chung is the General Manager of Uber for Hong Kong, overseeing local operations and is responsible for growing the business in Hong Kong. Estyn believes that efficient point to point mobility coupled with technology and innovation is not only beneficial to riders in Hong Kong, but is also an integral step to fulfilling Hong Kong’s smart city ambition.

Estyn led the launch of Uber Taxi in Hong Kong and the acquisition of HK Taxi to build what is now the #1 Taxi business for Uber globally. He hopes to reinvigorate the industry by providing more income opportunities for drivers and bringing a better experience to Hongkongers.

Prior to Uber, Estyn spent over a decade in Investment Banking in Asia and Australia with UBS, a Swiss Bank. He then went on to become a Co-Founder and CEO of CANOPY, a career platform for millennials headquartered in Hong Kong. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Laws from the University of Melbourne.

Anna joined the Volvo AB business in September 2003 and has advanced to the position of leadership. She has been the managing director of Volvo Trucks in Southeast Asia and Japan since January 2022. She has a track record of 21 years as a successful business head, aggressively increasing sales and boosting profitability in several global markets for the Volvo business. She has demonstrated leadership skills and a solid understanding of the industry.

As an organisation, Volvo Trucks has a sustainability position of ‘Population growth, urbanization, digitalization and a continuously expanding middle class are trends leading to an increased need of sustainable transport.

Stanley Kit Pong is the Chairman and Founder of Hong Kong Battery Recycling Centre, the first waste battery recycling plant located at EcoPark, Tuen Mun.
His metallurgical experience derived from working for over four decades as a Director of Shiu Wing Steel Limited, the only steel manufacturing plant in Hong Kong.

The current Senior Staff Scientist at China Everbirght Green Technology Innovation Research Institute（subsidiary of China Everbright Environment Group Limited）, responsible for leading the R&D activities in the field of photovoltaic and energy storage.

With a PhD in Materials Science from City University of Hong Kong, Anthony has 10+ years of experience in R&D. He also holds a 6 Sigma Black Belt and a Certified Intellectual Property Manager certification. Since 2016, Anthony has been actively involved in the development of lithium-ion battery recycling technology, which has provided him with a deep understanding of the policies and trends in the Chinese lithium-ion battery industry.

China Everbright Environment Group Limited has grown into the largest environmental enterprise in China, a leading player in Asia’s environmental protection industry, the world’s largest waste-to-energy investor and operator, and a world-renowned environment group.

My Sustainability Goals for 2023:

We are aims to achieve significant milestones in Li battery recycling for Hong Kong. The objectives include enhancing collection infrastructure, increasing public awareness, and implementing efficient recycling processes.

Eli Konvitz is an expert in sustainability and urban development with experience on five continents. He consults on urban innovation and development, is Vice-Chair of the Urban Land Institute in Hong Kong, and adjunct Associate Professor at the University of Hong Kong.

He has led masterplans for new cities, urban regeneration, transit oriented development, reclamation and waterfront development, industrial, tourism and leisure projects. He is experienced in masterplanning and urban design, large-scale urbanisation and regional strategies, and climate change strategy and policy. In 2006 he led the ground-breaking creation of the evidence base for climate change in the London Plan, and in 2008 he pioneered creation of a mechanism to fund and drive low-carbon retrofit of existing buildings.

Eli was previously Director of Atkins’ Planning and Urban Design practice in South East Asia and Net Zero leader for Asia; Asia Practice Lead for Consulting, Strategy and Advisory; and Chair of Atkins’ Urban Planning Global Network. Prior to joining Atkins, he was at Arup in London and co-founder of startup localCarbon.

A graduate of The Johns Hopkins University and has an MSc in Town Planning from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, he is Fellow of the Royal Society for the Arts, a member of the Pacific Basin Economic Council, sits on the Advisory Board of AMRACE in Malaysia and on the Hong Kong Institute of Urban Design’s Public Affairs and International and Mainland Affairs Committees.

Allyson Browne is Pacific Environment’s Climate Campaign Director, leading their Ports for People campaign to end port and ship pollution. Allyson has contributed to renewable energy and climate policy for more than 10 years, including as Director of Regulatory Affairs for SRECTrade, where she collaborated with industry and grassroots organizations on renewable energy policies; as Chief of Staff to Jared Blumenfeld for California Governor Newsom’s 2018 gubernatorial campaign, Energy & Environment team; and as a consultant on energy in cities, cannabis, and cryptocurrency. She contributed to systemic and emerging climate movement ecosystem mapping at Climate2025 and global research on renewable energy development for REN21’s Renewables in Cities Global Status Report. My Sustainability Goals for 2023:

Hong Kong is uniquely positioned to accelerate momentum and progress on sustainability and to spread that change worldwide. I hope that this event will serve as a springboard for ideas and opportunities for cross-sector, public and private collaboration on innovative solutions. With the support of policy, finance and private sector innovation, we can advance a just, equitable and sustainable future for everyone.

Adam is a dynamic leader and visionary, with a proven track record of delivering transformational changes to bus systems around the world including London, Singapore and Hong Kong. Adam established Ascendal Group in 2018, with a vision of bringing cities to life through public transport and now has operations in four continents. He is currently CEO of Bravo Transport, owner of Citybus (responsible for moving around 1 million passengers a day) and Bravo Media (Hong Kongs second largest media agency).   He has actively pushed for Hydrogen Fuel-Cell Buses to be operated in Hong Kong and has approval to commence trials later this year, and introduced Hong Kongs first ever battery electric double deck bus, leading the way for zero emission buses in Hong Kong.

My Sustainability Goals for 2023:

We are active in working with Government to fast track zero emission buses to Hong Kong. We also believe there is a tremendous opportunity to transform public transport in Hong Kong to generate further modal shift which will have a substantial impact in Hong Kong.

Christoph is appointed as General Manager Hong Kong, South China and Macau for Lufthansa Group since February 1, 2020. He is responsible for Passenger Sales of Lufthansa German Airlines, Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) in Hong Kong, South China and Macau market.

Christoph previously worked as Head of Content & Dialogue Marketing for SWISS based in Zurich. He was responsible for airline sponsoring, event management, social media channels, newsletters and tourism partnerships.

Ian Reeds is a Principal Engineer at Atkins, a member of the SNC-Lavalin Group.

He is a transportation systems engineer, delivering low carbon infrastructure design and rail and transport planning on transit developments globally including Southeast Asia, Middle East, Japan and Australia. His projects have included a range of light and heavy rail, high speed, metro, bus and alternative systems, such as Personal Rapid Transit and Autonomous Rapid Transit. He is based in Hong Kong.

Barry is a highly regarded sustainability professional with over 25 years of experience advising business leaders on formulating sustainability strategies and integrating them into corporate values and culture.
In 2022, Barry joined the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks (HKSTP) where he currently leads the sustainability strategy and HKSTP’s net zero roadmap implementation. His role also involves driving the momentum of building the next generation of bankable climate solutions ecosystem for Hong Kong and beyond.
Prior to joining HKSTP, Barry served as the Regional Head of the Climate Solutions Partnership at HSBC Asia Pacific. Throughout his 15-year tenure at HSBC, Barry acted as a subject matter expert, offering guidance to top management on advocating for sustainability.

Mr Yu Ching Yan, Johnny joined the Company in 2020 as the advisor to Chairman. Prior to joining the Company, Mr Yu held various senior positions with UBS, Credit Suisse and Price Waterhouse in both Hong Kong and London. He brought 28 years of extensive experience covering multiple disciplines including sales and marketing, investment advisory, accounting, tax and risk management and control. He leads the sustainability development of the Company and won the prestigious Business Leadership in Sustainability Award at the Asia Pacific Leadership in Green Building Awards 2022, organised by the World Green Building Council (WorldGBC). He also provides strategic advisory on property sales and marketing, policy formulation, digital transformation and innovation. Samuel KWONG is the Senior Associate Director – ESG of Chinachem Group with over 25 years of experience in sustainability with multinational conglomerates covering businesses including sports & entertainment, food & beverages, aviation, hospitality, real estate, retail, shipping & infrastructure developments. He is a director of HKIQEP, past Chairman of CIWEM HK & former director of HKGBC & HKBEC. Sam is an engineer by training with bachelor and master degrees from The University of Hong Kong and a master degree of environmental engineering from ENTPE, France, MBA degree from the Chinese University Hong Kong and a degree of laws from the University of London.

Ir Dr Shelley Zhou is currently Head of Corporate Sustainability at Hang Seng Bank. Prior to joining Hang Seng, Dr Zhou led ESG services in APAC for Capco, where she developed ESG products and solutions for financial institutions in Asia-Pacific, established a capable team to deliver net-zero strategy advisory and ESG consultancy services, and provided internal capacity-building and external executive training on climate and ESG related topics. Dr Zhou is a sustainability professional, has 20+ years’ experience in corporate sustainability, environmental and carbon management consultancy, new energy and biotechnology in Hong Kong, China and Singapore, covering government, banking, financial, real estate and retail sectors.

Shelley holds a PhD in Environmental Engineering from the National University of Singapore and a Master of Philosophy degree in Civil Engineering from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST). She is also Adjunct Professor at HKUST.

Ashish is a qualified professional with extensive expertise in energy management and automation. He holds a Master’s degree in Automation from the prestigious Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore, and is a Certified Energy Manager. With over a decade of experience, Ashish has worked with renowned clients such as MGM Macau, Sands Resorts, and Swire Properties, among others, helping them identify and address operational defects to improve their energy efficiency. He has also gained valuable insight into the negative impact of inefficient maintenance practices on overall outcomes, having dealt with these issues directly in his previous roles. In 2018, Ashish became the CEO of Carnot Innovations Limited, where he has led the completion of over 90 AI energy saving projects across Hong Kong SAR, Singapore, Taiwan, and Thailand.

300 to 500 buildings will be deployed with Carnot’s AI Energy Saving solution and we contribute to make Hong Kong a greener city.

As the Cofounder and VP of Technology at Volar Aerospace, Marco oversees the development of technology and R&D initiatives to facilitate green aviation. His responsibilities include spearheading research on electric aircraft infrastructure and software to support the deployment of electric air taxi services, as well as commercializing electric aircraft for sustainable aviation.

With over seven years of experience in the tech industry, Marco has a proven track record of delivering innovative solutions in various fields, including semiconductor, consulting, airline, web3, and advertising tech industries. He is now leveraging his expertise to advance green and sustainable initiatives through the adoption and development of new technologies in the aviation industry.

My Sustainability Goals for 2023:

In my opinion, it would be great to see Hong Kong at the forefront of advancing technology for a sustainable aviation ecosystem. Hong Kong is well-placed to support the implementation of new green technologies, thanks to its established green infrastructure, such as green financing and carbon credits trading systems. This infrastructure serves as a solid basis for the widespread adoption and transfer of sustainable new technologies.

Previously the Managing Director and Head of APAC Client Coverage at MSCI, Jack possesses over 20 years of leadership in the financial industry. Prior to MSCI, Lin was previously head of South Asia at Amundi. He also led and managed teams in global asset management, including as Head of Asia Pacific and Co-CEO International at US-based Janus Capital and Managing Director in Asia at Franklin Templeton, where he helped open offices in Japan, Vietnam, China and Korea. His expertise in financial markets and green capital has helped to drive efforts in sustainable investing solutions.

Gabby is the marketing officer of Carbon Exchange (Hong Kong) Limited. She is passionate about sustainability development and ESG issue, in particular on social aspects. She pays attention to the latest ESG topics in Hong Kong and worldwide. She is engaging in the design of sustainability software, namely ESGBOT, SMART 610, etc.

ESGBOT is a Smart Corporate ESG Reporting software. It is designed for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs).

Gabby is ambitious to offer helps to those in needs while seeking for supports and resources in the society in achieving sustainability goals.

Dr Wang Zengyue is the Co-founder and CEO of Luquos Energy. Dr Wang Zengyue received his B.E. degree in Mechanical and Automation Engineering from CUHK in 2015, and PhD degree in Mechanical and Automation Engineering from CUHK in 2021. He has experience over 10 years in developing advanced flow battery materails and systems in Prof. Yi-Chun Lu’s team.

Dr. Martin Zhu, PhD graduate (supervisor: Dr. Edwin TSO) from the School of Energy and Environment, City University of Hong Kong, member of the Green Technology and Finance Development Committee of HKSAR. His research focuses on understanding the fundamentals of heat transfer, energy conversion, and engineered materials. He strives to integrate theory and experiments to create innovative solutions for enhancing phase-changing, air cooling, dehumidifying, thermal management, thermal rectification, micro-droplet manipulation, and energy-efficient building technologies. Incubated by HK Tech 300 program, he and his team formed the startup, i2Cool, to commercialize their cooling technologies developed in the laboratory for energy saving. Empowered by the self-developed and ever-improving products, as well as fueled by the highly adaptive and long-term strategies, i2Cool successfully attracted interest from various sectors of society, creating a significant social impact.

Throughout her career, she has worked with esteemed organizations in different industries, such as Retail, Travel, Hospitality and Consumer Goods. Helping them navigate the ever-changing landscape of digital transformation to achieve their business goals. I hope to see proactive behavioral changes toward sustainability at an individual level (e.g. mindful water consumption, minimizing waste production) and to see corporates actively investing in reducing their carbon footprint, not just publicizing activities and goals they have.

Ir Dr Bruce Chong is a Fellow and Director of Arup, leading City Advisory, Climate and Urban Sustainability services in East Asia, working with various clients across this region on carbon neutrality, climate resilience, smart city, city informatics, sustainable infrastructure and circular economy. Bruce is a Cambridge Overseas Scholar, a fellow member of HKIE, ICE, CIBSE and IET,  as well as being committee members of various organisations such as the Director of HK Green Building Council (HKGBC), co-Chairman of Real Estate Working Group in the HK Green Finance Association (HKGFA), Vice Chairman of Real Estate & Infrastructure Committee of Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce (HKGCC), Committee Member of ESG Group of the Financial Service Development Council (FSDC), Working Group Member on Engineering & Climate Change of the World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO) etc., using his knowledge to drive cross-sector collaboration, create values and generate momentum of change for the industry, example being the Smart-Green-Resilient framework which has now been adopted by all the strategic planning projects in HK.

Steven Lai is the Chief Executive of Environmental Engineering at ATAL Engineering Group, overseeing the Group’s environmental engineering operations. With over 30 years of experience in infrastructure mechanical and electrical engineering, Steven has a proven track record in designing and implementing innovative solutions that enhance the efficiency, sustainability and cost-effectiveness of water, wastewater, solid waste, gas treatment processes and infrastructure projects in Hong Kong and overseas.

Increased use of renewable energy and hydrogen, proper and effective waste separation to enhance recycling and waste-to-energy, more underground infrastructure, and use of AI with big data

Antonio has dedicated 20 years of his life leading sustainable design, innovation and strategy for some of the world’s most renowned architecture, engineering and construction firms. But with buildings and construction sector’s global carbon emission remain stubbornly at around 40% year after year, Antonio decided to chart a different course by founding Formwork IO in 2020 with the goal to drastically reduce upfront carbon and Scope 3 emissions in the built environment. Formwork IO applies Whole Life Carbon Thinking to design innovative products that help developers and asset managers win the Net Zero Embodied Carbon race.

To reach carbon neutral in the R&D of our initial paving block product. Personally, I hope to see the development of Hong Kong as regional carbon exchange for both mandatory and voluntary carbon markets.

Ariel Shtarkman is Managing Partner of Undivided Ventures, VC platform investing in early-stage technology companies, identifying a pathway to a more sustainable future for the built environment – real estate, infrastructure and cities. She is also the Founder of Orca Capital, boutique investment firm and family office focusing on real estate and technology.

Previously, Ariel was with Citibank Real Estate Structured Finance in Hong Kong, where she structured debt instruments for real estate developers, REITs and private equity funds. She also worked in real estate private equity funds sponsored by ING Clarion in New York and ING Real Estate Investment Management in Hong Kong.

Ariel holds an MBA from Columbia Business School with concentration in Real Estate, and BSc from Tel Aviv University with double major in Computer Science and Business Administration. She serves as Urban Land Institute (ULI) Global Governing Trustee and as a Vice Chair of ULI Hong Kong.

With the purpose of moving people forward in life, Aldric currently leads Cathay’s efforts in data science and analytics, enterprise technology innovation and digital transformation across the organisation. Aldric started his career with Cathay’s inflight services team in 2008. As part of the Swire Management Programme, he has held a number of managerial positions in customer relationship and retail, e-commerce and Lean process improvement in Hong Kong, and overseas as the airline’s Country Manager in Sri Lanka and the Maldives. Aldric graduated from MBA programme at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.

Susheela Rivers is a real estate lawyer with over 28 years’ experience of helping clients with complex, multi-faceted cross-border and domestic real estate transactions throughout Asia (including China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Korea, India, Indonesia, and Vietnam) and the UK.

She advises on all aspects of structuring real estate investment and development portfolios including acquisitions and disposals, joint ventures and developments for stand-alone assets and portfolios across all asset classes.

Susheela helps clients with a wide range of real estate matters, focusing particularly on M&A transactions, financings, developments, leases, and fractionalising real estate including real estate tokenisation. She has in-depth knowledge of the hospitality and leisure spheres and a particular focus on real estate with operational aspects.

Gene Soo is the Head of Ecosystem of Global Innovation Department at MTR. Having led the creation of Hong Kong’s startup ecosystem by cofounding StartupsHK, Gene is now tasked with building new businesses and enhancing the core MTR business with technology, partnerships, and new business models. Prior to his role at MTR, Gene led the launch of Citymapper, a transport app, into Hong Kong in 2015 as General Manager. Prior to Citymapper, Gene has been involved in building fashion, lifestyle and mobile gaming startups.

Gene has been pushing for more focus on user experience, sustainability and open data practice in Hong Kong and believes strongly in improving daily lives through better design and technology.

Gene received his BS and MS in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University as well as MBA from Columbia University.

My Sustainability Goals for 2023:

For 2022, I would hope to see the city to push for better use of design, technology and innovation such that green and sustainable habits would become second nature to people in Hong Kong.

As the General Manager of Technology & Innovation, Ben manages and drives New World Development’s open innovation platform and proptech strategy that empowers technology startups to co-create within the group’s ecosystem of culture, creativity, and innovation. In addition, Ben oversees early-stage investments and venture build exercises.

Ben launched Impact Kommons, the first UN SDG accelerator in APAC focused on accelerating impact with purpose-driven startups, and the GBA Accelerator, a supply chain, logistics, and robotics startup accelerator designed to help companies scale across the Greater Bay Area.

Ben founded Startup Launchpad, now Asia’s largest I.o.T. startup trade event. He has helped startups raise more than $2 million on Kickstarter and Indiegogo. He is an angel investor and regularly mentors in startup support programs.

Alex started his career at John Swire & Sons working in the United States, China & Hong Kong.
Since 2004 he has been an entrepreneur in many different areas of the real estate investment space, co-founding a serviced apartment business, Kush Serviced Apartments, a boutique neighbourhood retail brand called Warehouses on West and a real estate investment and asset management business, District15. District15 co-invested with large real estate institutions and funds and was responsible for repositioning, asset managing and exiting these real estate assets and portfolios.

Alex also has a long history of mentoring and investing in start ups and technology companies in the proptech and real estate space. His latest platform, Undivided Ventures is focused on investing in companies looking to solve for the many sustainability challenges in the built environment.

Joon Nak CHOI (JC) holds academic appointments as Advisor to the MSc in Business Analytics and Adjunct Assistant Professor at HKUST Business School, and as Faculty Associate at the Institute for Emerging Market Studies at HKUST; he has also held visiting professorships at Stanford University and NYU Shanghai. He has worked in the private sector as a management consultant and an entrepreneur, having founded data science startups Zectr and Learnovate in Hong Kong. His work has been cited in the MIT Technology Review, the South China Morning Post, Sina.com, and the United Nations; his editorials have been published in some of the most widely read newspapers in Asia, including the South China Morning Post and the Maeil Kyungjae Daily.

Yoonmin Cho is a partner at Sopoong Ventures, spearheading global investment with a keen focus on climate tech. Her climate tech investments include Capture 6, a DAC startup in the US and Selex, an electric motor bike company in Vietnam.

Before Sopoong, as a CBDO at Kmong, a Korean startup, she led global business expansion. Prior to that, she spent 10+ years at Google both in Southeast Asia and Korea. After she contributed to the successful expansion of Google business and offices in the Southeast Asia region, she launched Google for Startups in Korea and led APAC-wide startup programs.

Leo is the CEO of YMS Development and director of the Parkview Group. Leo was a key director for the relaunch of Atlas Bar in the family owned Parkview Square in Singapore. Atlas Bar now ranks 4th in World’s 50 Best Bars Award 2020. In 2010, he spearheaded the development of the multi-award-winning, environmentally friendly Parkview Green FangCaoDi, a large-scale mixed-use development in Beijing. This 200,000 sqm project was the first mixed-use development in China to be awarded the LEED Platinum Certification (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) in 2009 and was Asia’s first LEED Dynamic Plaque recipient in 2017. Prior to Parkview Green, Leo worked on the Battersea Power Station project in London from 1999 until 2007 when the project was sold. It was one of the largest mixed-use urban regeneration developments in Europe. Leo graduated in London after completing his studies in film and video production.

Isaac is Associate Head of Investment for MTR Lab, where he was a founding member and focuses on venture investments across mobility, proptech and smart city technologies. He holds a Bachelor degree in Economics from Wesleyan University in Connecticut, USA. Prior to his current role, Isaac was CFO to a Beyondcars, an online used car trading and consignment platform. Previously, he was venture capital professional in two family offices focusing on seed to Series A investments. Isaac also founded a User Experience Design company. He is an avid scuba diver and is passionate about sustainability and social inclusion.

Mr Jude Chow is the Founder & CEO of AEL (International Holdings) Limited. In his early years in Australia, Mr Chow had extensive exposure to large-scale construction engineering, airport engineering, and environmental engineering projects. He then took up a regional position in a German technology company and was responsible for projects across 13 countries in the Asia Pacific. After joining AEL, he has led the company to sustainable growth from developing new products and entering into new markets, including Belt and Road countries. He is now working with partners from Europe, local research institutes and universities to build a waste-to-energy solution for the Asian Market. He is also dedicated to contributing to society with active participation in voluntary work and being a mentor for the City University of Hong Kong’s School of Energy and Environment, as well as the promotion of sustainability by representing the industry to liaise with Government and overseas counterparts.

My Sustainability Goals for 2024:

Ms Clara Chan is the Chief Executive Officer of Lee Kee Group, a leading solutions provider for metals in China and ASEAN region. Ms Chan is responsible for leading the Group in business development and providing strategic direction, including digitalisation and sustainability drive, taking the conventional metal manufacturing industry to the next level. Leading a professional management team, Ms Chan leverages her wealth of experience in commodity market and global trade, creating a portfolio of value-added products and services that help hundreds of brand owners to provide their products worldwide.

Fabrice Bayon is an executive manager, top 5 Executive MBA graduate from HEC, with 20 years’ expertise in the development and implementation of innovative, profitable, and sustainable policies.
Within PALO IT, he helps organizations to transform their ideas into digital added-value products, offering a crafted-end-to-end approach with fast-time delivery to market customers.

Fabrice also holds multiple roles at the French Chamber in Hong Kong, including being a Councillor and the President of the Digital Innovation Committee, where he oversees the chamber’s activities and shares market insights on digital and innovation.

My Sustainability Goals for 2024:

1. Promote Green IT Practices:
Advocate for more companies in Hong Kong to adopt green IT practices, such as using energy-efficient servers and promoting digital sustainability.

2. Beyond Mandatory ESG Regulations:
Encourage companies to go beyond meeting mandatory ESG regulations by enhancing their sustainability efforts, such as consistently tracking and improving their initiatives.

3. Increase Employee Engagement:
Advocate for more companies to host sustainability training programs specifically tailored for Hong Kong-based employees.

David Chan, Managing Director of Amosola, has over 25 years of experience within the construction and property industry working for both the public and private sectors within major corporations including the MTR, Link REIT and the HEX. As a Hong Kong and UK qualified architect (HKIA/RIBA), a chartered constructor (CIOB), and a fire engineer (SFPE), he has extensive experience in project management, building and infrastructure design, construction, costing and the impact on the environment.

My Sustainability Goals for 2023:

•  Providing professional insight on solar energy application to various stakeholders in the city.
• Helping promote the adoption of solar energy or Net-Zero solution and increase those impact.

Mr Yonghai Du is the General Manager of the Green Living and Innovation Division of Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC). Dedicated in environmental engineering and service fields for more than 20 years, he has extensive experience and business insights covering a broad range of environmental and industrial segments including water and wastewater treatment technology development, waste treatment and management, air quality control solutions, carbon capture and utilisation technologies for power and industries.

Prior to joining HKPC, Mr Du worked for a large international company to manage and operate the global fleet and portfolio of environmental control solutions by EPC and consultancy service projects. Mr Du holds master’s degree in Environmental Protection Engineering. He is among the first approved Registered Environmental Protection Engineer of China in 2008.

Barton is specialised in the Indoor Air Quality filed since 1999, with more than 22 years of experience in IAQ consultancy services. He is currently the Chairman of IAQ Committee of the Greater Bay Area Institute of Urban Architecture (HK), and the Life Ordinary Member of the Hong Kong Registered Specialist Contractors (Ventilation) Association.
During the SARS period in 2003, Barton was the only representative in the field being consulted by Ms. Sarah Mary Liao Sau-tung, the then Secretary of Environmental, Transport and Works Bureau, to recommend methods for IAQ infection control. The IAQ solutions Barton recommended was implemented in 41 public hospitals, curbing the spread of the disease. For their effectiveness, those solutions have since then been applied in all public hospitals.
Barton is a frequent speaker at IAQ-related lectures and seminars. As well, he is often interviewed by local newspapers and TV stations for expert opinion on topics related to air quality.

That HK Government will not only unite all sectors to help Hong Kong advance to prosperity, but also take more proactive initiatives to formulate and implement effective environmental protection policies.

Dr Kin Ho is currently Head of Research and Development at AEL (International Holdings) Limited. Prior to joining AEL Intl, Dr Ho has worked for various research institute where he developed a first-ever and novel food waste pretreatment solution, Food TranSmarter, to liquify food waste into slurry. He obtained the PhD degree in Chemistry at The University of Hong Kong. With more than 10 years of experiences in research and development, Kin now leads the team in developing products and solutions on food waste recycling.

Dennis Kwan is the co-founder and CEO of QBS, a leading IoT company and venture builder based in Hong Kong. He has over 15 years of experience in IT, especially IoT, product and project management. He was also the CTO of Cafe X Technologies, a joint venture company that operates robotic cafes with sensor technologies and cloud-based systems.

Mr. Kwan is passionate about researching and developing IoT solutions for smart buildings, greentech, foodtech, and smart city applications. He has led and implemented large-scale projects in Hong Kong such as WEEE, Zero Carbon Park, etc. He has also won numerous awards for his innovation and excellence in Internet of Things.

Mr. Kwan holds a Bachelor Degree in Computer Information System from the University in UK, where he graduated with first-class honours and received several prizes and scholarships. He is also an executive committee member of the HKRTIA (Hong Kong Retail Technology Industry Association) as well as member of Housing Lab.

• Empowering our IoT technology to help achieve sustainability goals, such as reducing energy consumption, water usage, carbon emissions, and material waste.
• Smart buildings: optimize lighting, heating, cooling, and ventilation based on occupancy and environmental conditions.
• Smart waste management – tracking, recycling

Prof. Alexis Lau is the Head and Chair Professor of Division of Environment and Sustainability, Chair Professor of Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Director of the Institute for the Environment at HKUST. His research specializes in Air Quality, Health Exposure, Weather and Climate. He is a member of the Scientific Advisory Group of the WHO Panel on the development of a Global Platform on Air Quality and Health.

Ms. Ng has over 28 years of experience in the integrated environmental services industry, with a seasoned background in waste management and recycling in Hong Kong.

She is the Vice Chairman at Environmental Industries Council of Federation of Hong Kong Industries, and the founding member of Sustainable Procurement Charter of Green Council.
